Solemnity of the Assumption

Saturday, August 15 is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is not a holy day of obligation in 2020 because 1) it falls on a Saturday this year and so the obligation is lifted and 2) Bishop Monforton’s dispensation from the obligation to participate in Mass remains in effect due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There will be two Masses celebrated for the Assumption nonetheless: 5:15 pm on Friday, Aug. 14and 8:00 am on Saturday, Aug. 15
